CONTACT MP's, MAYORS & COUNCILLORS
They Work For Us!
Our elected representatives are here to make sure our voices are heard. We chose them to represent us, and now it’s crucial they listen. While some representatives have clearly stated their positions, others have remained silent. It’s up to us to make sure they understand just how worried our community is about the permit application. With the consultation entering its final week, it’s more important than ever to speak up.
We need to ask our representatives to stand up for us and object loudly and clearly.
What should you say to them?
-
Tell them why this matters to you and ask them to stand publicly with the community.
-
You might want to: In the email subject line state it is URGENT or TIME SENSITIVE.
-
Introduce yourself as a local resident Explain your concerns. Our objections page has lots of ideas, but personal stories are powerful.
-
Maybe you have children attending nearby schools or nurseries, grow your own vegetables, spend time outdoors near the incinerator, work nearby, are passionate about the environment or you or loved ones have breathing conditions.
-
Ask them to visit www.stophli.org to hear more about community concerns, or find us on Facebook at "Stop Heighington Lane Incinerator".
-
Request that they publicly commit to objecting by Friday 18 July and raise their concerns with the Environment Agency.
Who are they?
Your Members of Parliament
The two MPs nearest to the site are listed below. However, we know the incinerator will impact the environment for at least 12 miles in all directions. So if you live further afield or want to double check who your MP is, you can find them by putting your postcode into this website: members.parliament.uk/FindYourMP.
